tell me a story about birds in a tree
singin' bout the way they think the world had oughtta be
looking down on us, with our brains so big and tall
'mystery to them how we just waste it all
tell me a story about scrapers in the sky
how we tore the world up for some artificial pride
therein lies the answer for how we came to be
tearing at our nature, 'fore we threw it to the sea.
"I'm so out of shape" the warbler says to the robin
"my arteries are clogged with processed dreams"
the robin cant relate, or so must be deduced becoz he's
staring at a screen, and getting lost in all the lights
tell me a story about birds in a tree
falling to the traps we set for happiness to bleed
looking down on us, forgetting really why
they've lost the very nature, we left it out to die
